Alex was born with Spina Bifida, exposed spine. Doctors closed him up at 4 days old but he’ll be paraplegic for life. In 2012 he was diagnosed with scoliosis and had metal rods installed in his back. He also now has a VP Shunt to allow cerebral fluid to drain.
He just graduated high school and although paralyzed, he’s still very active. He likes to be outside with his friends and can do most activities including kayaking, Basket Ball, inner-tubing and Lazer Tag. The only activity he hasn’t been able to participate in is
riding a bike. Alex received a hand cycle and rode a bike for the first time. He was interview and seen on Channel 4 News.
